That is some list! I’m too embarrassed to write my shame own shame list but you’ve inspired me. Still, run, do not walk, and check out Some Like It Hot, Annie Hall, and All About Eve!

I wish I could run, but those are many years away from me with the way I’m doing this!

I think most of us have lists which are just as bad as this. There are just too many great films. Plus I have to sit through the nonesnse my girlfriend makes me watch.

Double Indemnity is a love-in between Walter Neff and Keyes. It’s a buddy film noir. Once Upon a Time in the West is not as good as the two Eastwoods that started the Spaghetti western fad. I saw the Eastwoods in my 20s and loved them, but I can’t look at them anymore. Henry Fonda turned Leone down for the lead in Fist Full and A Few Dollars More. Later Leone hired him for Once Upon a Time. By then I was on to the Leone technique, and bored by it. But Fonda thought Leone got acting out of him the public had never seen before. I’ve seen every one but one of the films on the list above and at least like most of them. I never found Palm Beach Story as good as the Great McGinty, Sullivan’s Travels or Unfaithfully Yours. I didn’t really even find it funny, something I expected of Preston Sturges. The film I’ve never seen is Tokyo Story, but I’m getting a copy now.
